Is the Lowcountry's Hispanic population declining?
The tienda that Jesus Martinez and his family run on Arrow Road doesn't have much room to walk around in. Elaborate piñatas hang low from the shop's ceiling, and customers weave in and out of narrow aisles stocked with Hispanic foods, produce and coolers filled with fresh tortillas. Read the story here.

Perhaps leaving for california...A SANCTUARY STATE...?
Fear will send illegal foreign nationals scurrying away from states that were once a safe haven. May be they should pack up their possessions and head for California, where they have 'Sanctuary city laws' Special Order 40 has killed thousands of innocent bystanders, as it panders to gang member filth. Death walks the streets and drives the highways of California, because its a refuge for illegal alien criminals. Those foreign nationals who abscond from states like Arizona, Georgia, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and South Carolina, will no longer burden the overwhelmed hospitals, free education or the other state welfare benefits, that citizens do not receive. Overpopulation, congestion, urban sprawl, pollution, environmental damage, crime, diminishing resources, Diseases, lack of affordable housing, depressed wages, underground economic, fraudulent documents, identity theft, tax evasion, soaring crime rate, increased tax burdens, overcrowded schools, uneducated children, overcrowded prisons, inadequate health care, the balkanization of our communities and a large and growing population with loyalty to other Nations. Just read this disturbing revelation of costs, that our government skims from our paycheck to pay an illegal Paul. (www.eagleforum.org/sources)
Governor Arnold is still trying how to extract more money out of California taxpayers, to support the millions of illegal immigrants occupying the state? Utah's neighbor is suffering from a $17 billion dollar near bankruptcy. At least 287(g) program is making illegal aliens think twice in other less welcoming states, where venturing outside their abodes could mean arrest. Have your Democratic leaders endorse the federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) , because that the last chance we have before November. (2022243121 ) Unsuppressed details at NUMBERSUSA.

Tim & Michael… Big yes! It is the Hisgo Exodus
Tim & Michael… Big yes! It is the Hisgo Exodus and it is real and happening.
That is a good report on the state of the County. Many did called the Exodus I did called the Hisgo Exodus. Still happening and many more families are leaving or making plans to leave.
I have not suffered that much this year due to the time I have here and the legal status of my clients, but there it is not guaranties for next year, that even the legal ones stay.
I can say that the anti-illegal-immigrant movement has succeeded to a great degree, so much that even those like me that decided to become Southerners by Oath are seen the situation with great worries.
I have totally regrouped my business, and in all probabilities will have to move forward to become a German Shepherd Breeder. I will not stay in the Island if I have to jump into that business, good thing I have plenty of land in Beaufort for that purpose, and my projections are for one more year to see what happen. So I will become a rancher if things keep going the way they are. Good thing I like boots and horses too. But it is not too many people that actually see an economical and racial antagonistic tsunami on the horizon to be prepared.
I guess Ceips, Tanner, Newton, Hairstone along Neighbors for a Better Community and others names will be names that people will remember for long time as things keep going the way they are with the Exodus.
Sadly, this area did develop with immigrant workers, and will survive only with immigrant workers.
There will be very affordable housing but who will like to move to a place that does not offer what the big cities offer for young people? I guess age of working force along economical impact will be something that Beaufort County will have to do after to say what did happen instead of doing it before it happen.
I can honestly say that there are some people there in the County that has a plastic straw from one ear to the other and any advice to dissuade them and make them see these consequences, those words went like the wind from one ear and exit the other way without making any impact of their neurons, that it is, if there it is any neurons hanging around there.
Bad and harsh political decisions will always bring about bad consequences to all of us.
As for the school system not to admit reduction on enrollment? How could they? There it is too much money they can lose if they do. Their planned budgets for years to come will go to ______, well I hope you get my point.
Tanner could stop asking for more County money too, there will be not need for his focus point to expand.
Well let me correct myself on this statement, he might need that money because the last to leave are always those that are not working hard on honest jobs. So he will get real busy on criminal activity, and I will have not more worries… I have my dogs.
Tim & Michael you should fallow up on the housing problem too and all the abandoned houses and foreclosures in Bluffton and the County. It is very visible if you look around apartment complexes and houses. Besides there it is always the Court researchers to see how many foreclosures are in the horizon.
Talk about bad timing on enforcing anti-illegal-immigrant ordinances and laws! Please keep reporting on the economical domino effect. What I will call a social/labor Power vacuum.
I can painfully and with not pleasure at all, say: I did told you so!

Your negative rant
What you are describing sounds like the areas South of our borders where families were split apart, whole communites left to pursue their greedy prospects of profits equal to 20 to 100 times what they could make there. What pseudo slave force did they use to keep on living? Maybe all those hard working people could return home and repair their social and economic problems and repay the U.S., who took care of their needs here while our own citizens could not get some of the benefits that they were allowed.
As for the school system, maybe now our school ratings will go up in Bluffton when 34% of it's students who have no or limited understanding of our language or culture are gone. It is a shame that greed by their parents have caused them to be here when they should be back home in their own country but that was their fault not ours. Godspeed on your Exodus!
Remember all our citizens killed or damaged by those hard working and drunken illegals!

THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE LIVED HERE A COUPLE YEARS AND CLAIM TO BE SOUTHERN LISTEN UP.BEING SOUTHERN ISN'T SO EASY.YOU DON'T JUST LIVE HERE A COUPLE YEARS & CALL YOURSELF A TRUE SOUTHERNER.YOU ARE BORN AND RAISED SOUTHERN! IF SOMEBODY LIVES IN MEXICO FOR A COUPLE YEARS DOES THAT MAKE THEM A MEXICAN??
I ALSO THINK SEEING LESS ILLEGAL'S IN DEEP WELL ECT... IS FINALLY A GOOD SIGN! WHY SHOULD WE BE HELPING ILLEGAL'S LIVE HERE MORE COMFORTABLY WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY LEGAL SOUTHERNERS HERE TRYING SO HARD JUST TO KEEP FOOD ON THE TABLE BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF JOBS OR LOWER WAGES BECAUSE OF THE ILLEGAL'S TAKING THE JOBS FOR LOTS LESS MONEY FOR LESS QUALITY WORK & NO INSURANCE.EITHER WAY WE AMERICANS AGAIN TAKE THE SHAFT.
I AGREE THE ILLEGAL'S SHOULD GO BACK TO WHAT EVER COUNTRY THEY EMERGED FROM AND TRY TO HELP THEIR OWN COUNTRY + OR TAKE FROM THEIR OWN COUNTRY.I DARE SAY I SERIOUSLY DOUBT AN AMERICAN CAN MOVE TO ANY OTHER COUNTRY & RECEIVE MONEY TO EAT;FEED OUR CHILDREN;LOW HOUSING,SPECIAL TEACHING FOR OUR CHILDREN WHO CAN ONLY SPEAK ENGLISH.FREE EDUCATION & MEALS WHILE IN SCHOOL.
NOPE- THERE ISN'T A COUNTRY OUT THERE WHO WILL TAKE IN AN ILLEGAL AMERICAN TO EDUCATE,FEED & EMPLOYEE OUT THERE. SO WHY DO ALL THESE ILLEGAL'S THINK THEY DESERVE ANYTHING FROM US? OR THAT WE NEED THEM FOR ANYTHING? YES THERE ARE SOME JOBS WE WOULD RATHER GIVE TO AN ILLEGAL THAN RATHER THEN DO OURSELVES,BUT WE CAN DO IT OURSELVES & HAVE DONE SO FOR AGES. IT ISN'T THAT BIG OF A DEAL. I FOR ONE WOULD GLADLY GO OUT AND DO SOMETHING THAT HAD BEEN RESERVED FOR ILLEGAL'S IF IT MEANT GETTING RID OF THE PROBLEMS INVOLVED WITH HAVING ALL THESE ILLEGAL'S TRYING TO TAKE OVER OUR SYSTEM!

So I do understand your pain if it is yours, but if it is not your pain, then you are a very terrible person, using that line on every argument, because many of humans do lose love ones on senseless stupid acts of others. I am a proud American, My parents were smart enough to plan my future in a country that my family members served in every war in this country's history. On both sides of the civil war. Americans are my brothers and sisters. If anyone wants to support our country by serving it first and and get in line to become productive Americans I will support them.
I am sorry about your family member who was killed by an american. I don't know the circumstances of his death but I do know about Josh George and the evil drunken illegal who killed him and tried to avoid responsibility by running back to his hovel with his 10 illegal amigos to drink while Josh spent his last moments on the street alone. If that is what happened to your brother,I am sorry that you must relive that tragedy over and over in your mind. If it was not your situation than you are a insensitive fool only asserting misinformation to further your unsupportable ideas with emotional drivel.
By the way, did the American have an I.D., how do you know he was an American? We still don't know the true identity of Josh's killer, even the F.B.I can't find out who this hard working illegal painter is.
Enough of any support for law breakers! P.S. I will continue to highlight the injustice perpetrated in our country on our citizens and I have fought for your right to dissent.

when I was 20 years old ,,,,I lived here....My husband of 8 months was killed by a drunk american citizen she was a respected member of the community. Not only did it take me three weeks to track down the officer who handled the accident...but I never heard a word of apology from this so called upstanding citizen. This woman left me a widow and my daughter without a father who adored her. Not 1 word from her. no ticket. no arrest. no nothing. This happened 1 block from our home yes I ran out into the street. yes I was hysterical. and yet not 1 flippin word from this high standing citizen....and the officer who's paycheck comes from my taxes needed a vaca.. crime comes in all colors and nationalities.....where were my fellow americans then?

I never got and apology, not arrest, not charges, nothing.
My brother did serve more than 20 years under American direction to protect this country and Costa Rica among other countries. The Cops that got to the scene, did never bother to know that one of them was who was fallen, laying there death in the road. To be honest, they did not even bother to investigate properly if at all the incident or accident. A law enforcement officer lay down death on the road, and they did not bother to find out why.
Adamsdad, sadly yes, I do relive my brother’s death every time I read or hear a senseless accident, but even more when drugs or alcohol are involve.
Somehow in my heart I know that my brother’s death was not in vain, one day I will know why, and get the answer beyond: That we all are in God’s hands.
I also hope that the guy who killed Josh George pay for he’s crime and not just get deported.
My brother was totally legal in his country btw.
Now, I have a half brother that I did raise from 15 years till he turn 18. He did have to go back to Costa Rica. He later did come back legally and overstay he’s visa and became illegal. Due to many family disagreements, we did not got along, nor did I condone he’s illegal status, but he was an adult then and did took he’s own decisions. He did got deported not long time ago. He and he’s family will be much better back in Costa Rica.
So there you have it! My position to absolutely and emphatically support an Immigration Reform has absolutely nothing with supporting anybody who brakes the law, even if it is my own bother.
Can you say the same, and have the same respect that I do have for this country?
There are way too many inequalities in laws, but that has absolutely nothing to do with generalizations about any color or any culture or any race.
Solutions to the problems can not come from hateful hearts, that just will bring more inequalities, and that it is what I am totally against.
Save your lecture about serving this country … for some one else. I have give to this country more than plenty and with no regrets.

I feel for anyone who has suffered a loss of a loved one. It takes ....ok I'm going on 19 years .....as still not "over it"....I live with it..but I don't know if I'll ever just "get over it". I think the real insult tho was just because this woman was a so called "upstanding citizen", "and she does soooooo much for the community" "you wouldn't want to take that away from others would you?" "nothing can be done for your husband now anyway". not even a F n ticket!!!! oh yea I had plenty of people telling me "SHE" had suffered enough.....no wonder I have such distain for ......so I do understand adamsdad's frustration...and that of anyone else who feels life "ain't fair". Nothing will change there tho....so I just keep looking for a way to "get over it".
For what it's worth Flor....I'm sorry for your losses. Both men (your brother and husband) sounded wonderful. b
Edit: adamsdad....Josh sounds like he was a great kid. I'm sorry for all those who have to re-live that moment and will for the rest of their lives. But sometimes there is "no justice" and the rest of us have to "deal with it". please do not think I'm being flippant here. I'm not. It's a very real pain all I can tell you is that even tho the pain never leaves you....in time it does fade....alittle.....

Perhaps if others could be concerned about their own countries policies and stop complaining about ours true social reform could happen. Instead we have masses of people who find it more convenient to leave their own spoiled back yard , come her and tell us how bad ours is. I realize our government has encouraged this by not enforcing the law. I also realize that many companies have helped in order to keep wages down with the result of injury to American labor force. however I qualified "United States of America" as Beginning South of the Canadian border and ending North of the Mexican border. At any rate, wetback and others seem to think all the Americas are their playground, borders be damned........not the case.
But I also understand what wetback mean. He did say Viva Mexico, and God bless America.
You can say Viva Los Estados Unidos and God bless America.
But geography it is geography, and I totally sure I did not invented

for joining us. A slight correction wetback, if I may. The United States of America starts South of the Canadian border, and ends North of the Mexican border. If you are here legally.......welcome.......if you are here illegally.........please go home. While you are here, your input into this discussion will be respected and appreciated by me, and informative to all........verdad.

I understand Plebeian's comment. Thank you Flor for the translation and what she said is exactly what the mojado wrote. Word for word.
His comment is about the borders of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
And no other border.
Do you know that the official name of Mexico it is Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos - The Mexican United States.

That it is why we have a happy marriage...I guess.
My grandma use to say that women did invented the law when Eve took the apple. That will be a sign for any men to know better than to argue with women. The results are never going to be pretty at the end. LOL

what you have. I have to go back and see what I had in a book or article somewhere. I am sure you are right- but I thought Comedian George Lopez(HE kills me with his Masputo!) comment) had a correct name for it. Or perhaps Carlos Mencia! God- with his "Beaner" comments is really funny.

Don’t be so hard. Many people do learn English by first learning to read. It is obvious that wetback can now read English and comprehend what it is been written here. Perhaps it is hard for wetback to respond at this time. Please do not forget all the critics I have get because of my poor English skills.
At least he/she it is trying to express he’s/her opinion. I personally do not care in what language it is. I did not see anyone been upset when we read Italian, German and some other language use around the blogs.
You already forgot about that?
So it is OK for hammerhhi to go Italian but not for wetback to go Spanish?
Thank you for reminding me not to be quite so judgemental. Yes I was very angry last nite when I posted. But when I pulled the translation up I got the feeling that "we" were supposed to feel sorry for Wetback...First of all why would someone who feels so discriminated against use such a derogatory name? I also got the impression that because "we" are upset about the way things have been going...want something done about it, we are the "bad guys"...Not to mention the implication that Americans are "stupid" because we have not put ourselves in a position where we were forced to learn a new language in a couple of months. The boarder thing just pissed me off. as far as other languages being used....I haven't read anything posted in any of those languages with the exception of a word or phrase that is immediately translated by the poster themselves....Well except that Lmx thing hhi posts....but then again I thought it was some kind of cryptogram...and seems like more of part of his signature. But you are right about this tho: Yes I do need to respect wetbacks opinion..keeps me human...I just don't have to agree with it. b

I apologize if you felt belittled by my comments. I guess I forgot lesson 1 of the federalist papers...state your point without belittling anyone... It made it very difficult for me to translate your statement with the (what my computer said were) spelling errors. Hence the spell check, As I am not fluent in Spanish...yet....I have to do the best I can. I do not think all Hispanics are drunks, or criminals in fact have met several whom I admire very much. I do have a problem with the felons in our country tho and will not feel sorry for them. And while many of these felons have not "asked" for anything ...many have just "taken" what they want while crying "feel sorry for me, I'm just trying to make a better life for myself." That does not make me a bad guy, nor does it make me racist. I wish you safe journey home. b

Some comments they do pass all lines of "political correct" but, hey something are to be say straight forward, but it looks like they do have "reserved rights" for those that belong to the same culture.
I could not eat saltines without LOL, because I hear the jokes and I remember them. I cannot use the terms because will definitely be disrespectful too. I will never hear the end, if I use the comedians terms assuming that everybody will understand me. Regardless of what other use.
Two wrongs will never make a right. I just know that some bloggers have not sense of humor, and it is a fact that humor it is inherited among Hispanics, because we have learn to deal with the troubles of life and Governments and the economy in Latin America, through humor.
Most of the time, I think only Aplebeian really catch when I make jokes on second take.

No we do not have to agree in opinion, we just have to respect others when we express our opinions.
There will be always people bigger than us, and there will be always people smaller than us.
We have to respect all. That it is one of the reasons this country it is great. It has nothing to do with our borders, it has to do with the Citizens of this country.
A house it is a house, what makes a house a good, it is the owners of the house not the walls. But for the owners to be good, the house has to be protected and only good people it is invited

It is that you got the stars from two people that differ many times in opinions, but are respectful on their disagreements.
