General FAQ

Q. What is IP Plus or BG Plus?

A. The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette provide unlimited access to all content on our newspapers' websites, islandpacket.com and beaufortgzette.com, our mobile sites (m.islandpacket.com and m.beaufortgazette.com) and to your iPhone and Android smartphone apps, and our electronic replica edition (e-Edition), in addition to your printed newspaper subscription. IP Plus and BG Plus bundles all the ways you can read The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette's content into one low price.

Q. How does the digital access work?

A. Some portions of islandpacket.com and beaufortgazette.com will remain free; your access to other portions will be limited without a digital bundle subscription.

Each time your computer or smartphone visits our site, your use of the site’s pages are counted. Some portions of our site, like our Homepage (the first page you come to on the site), our section fronts (the “front” page of the Local News, Local Sports, Lowcountry Life, Lowcountry Current, Opinion Front, etc.), photo galleries, search results page, dealsaver, and all advertising will remain fully accessible, which means you’ll continue to have unlimited access to those pages. But the story-level pages, video galleries, commenting and opinions, breaking news, obituaries and other content will have limited access.

So when, for example, you click on a headline on the homepage and select a story, that page counts towards a limit of 15 free pages per 30-day period. Once you reach your 15 premium page limit, if you don’t have a digital subscription, you’ll be required to subscribe or wait until the next 30-day period to access them. The metered page amount for the website is 15 premium pages, mobile site is 20 premium pages, and mobile app is 60 premium pages, and the live news app os 70 activities viewed.

With a digital subscription, you will have exclusive unlimited access to our websites, our smartphone and tablet apps as well as daily delivery of the electronic edition — and your use will not be limited.

Q. What are my digital subscription options?

A. There are several.

Subscribers can either purchase IP Plus or BG Plus package which includes home delivery service of the print publication PLUS all of the digital news products for $15 per month. Subscribers have exclusive unlimited access to our digital products 24/7 through our websites, mobile and tablet platforms.

If you're currently a print subscriber, you'll have free access to the all the digital products through your Press Plus account.

For readers who want only digital access, they can purchase the digital bundle alone for $6.95 per month or $69.95 per year if paid annually.

We also offer a .99 one-month trial period for those who would like to test the digital products on their electronic devices.

Q. What if I already renewed my newspaper subscription? Do I have to pay extra now?

A. No. The digital bundle charges will begin with your next renewal. If you’ve already renewed your Island Packet or Beaufort Gazette newspaper subscription, you’ll have unlimited access to the entire digital package without charge until your current subscription is due for renewal. To access the digital products, current print subscribers will have to create a Press Plus account at "http://www.islandpacket.com/subscribe" or "http://www.beaufortgazette.com/subscribe".

Q How do I sign up for a digital subscription?

A. ( CLICK HERE to order )

Or, when you’ve viewed your maximum metered pages, a pop-up online order form will appear and invite you to subscribe. You’ll have the choice of a digital bundle if you want access to the digital package only, or you can sign up for a print and digital bundle, our best deal because it also includes delivery of the daily newspaper.

If you are not a subscriber to The Island Packet or The Beaufort Gazette, once you have exceeded your allocated pages within a 30-day period, a pop-up message will appear asking you to subscribe.

Q. How do I access my digital subscription?

A. Once you purchase your digital subscription, you will be logged in to your account from the device you used to purchase the subscription. You don’t have to do anything else to access the content on the website.

However, if you switch to another device or clear your saved log in data, you may see the message asking you to subscribe. If that happens, simply click the “Sign In” button on the top left corner of that screen and enter your e-mail address and the password you selected.

Q. Can I comment or read the comments without paying for a digital subscription?

A. You will need a digital subscription to comment or read comments (once your expired “free” page views are used within the 30-day period).

Q. Will I be able to use my free Island Packet or Beaufort Gazette iPhone or Android app without paying for a digital subscription?

A. Yes, but you will need a digital subscription to read stories once you've reached your allocated pages within the 30-day period. Without the digital subscription, your smartphone app will be limited to the free access pages (homepage, section fronts, dealsaver, etc.) and the metered pages each month. A digital subscription will give you unlimited access to The Island Packet or The Beaufort Gazette's digital products 24/7 through your mobile app.

Q. What if I don’t want digital access?

A. Most of our readers have access to the Internet and or have smartphones and use these devices to access our site or mobile applications, so bundling these together makes sense.

This is also good for your entire household, so anyone in your family can access The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette online and the smartphones and tablet apps.

Q. What happens if I use only a few of my “free” pages when the month runs out?

A. The count starts over every 30 days. It is not based upon a monthly calendar.

Q. Can everyone in my household use the same digital account?

A. Yes. Your digital subscription can be shared with up to five mobile app users.

Q. Is access to the e-Edition included in my digital subscription?

A. Yes. If you enter the account information for your digital subscription when prompted, you will gain access to our e-Edition.

Account Management FAQ

A. Yes. If you right-click on the window and “view frame info” or “frame source,” you'll see it's an https URL.

Q. How will digital only subscriptions be billed?

A . Press Plus accepts major credit cards. Subscriptions are prepaid in advance, .99 for a one month trial offer, $6.95 per month or $69.95 annually. Your subscription renews automatically and you are charged in advance of each billing cycle unless you cancel your subscription.

Note: Because Press Plus is managing the billing for your digital only subscription, the charge on your credit card statement will say “Press Plus” rather than The Island Packet / The Beaufort Gazette.

Q. Can I pay by check, invoice, or PayPal?

A. No. All payments are via credit card.

Q. What is the cancellation policy?

A. You may cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel, we will stop charging your account the following billing cycle. Q. I'm going on vacation and would like to stop my paper delivery. What are my options?

A. While you're out of town, you can:

1. Donate the value of your newspaper to the Newspapers In Education Program

2. Request a Vacation Pak in which the carrier holds up to two weeks worth of papers and delivers them upon your return.

A. The $3 activation fee is for new subscribers and subscribers restarting from a previously entered permanent stop.
